The establishment of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Platform is a step forward, said Naidin Ahmetspahic, parliamentarian from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He made the remarks at a conference, titled “Peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and a new mission of civil society”, which kicked off in Tbilisi on Oct. 31, an APA correspondent reported from Tbilisi.

“Civil society played a huge role in the settlement of the conflict in our country. It is also important to involve the media in the settlement process,” said the MP.

Addressing the event, Matthias Dornfeldt, head of the Berlin-based European Institute for Caucasian and Caspian Studies, said that representatives from Europe highly appreciate the establishment of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Platform.

“The Peace Platform is a very good initiative. Thanks to this initiative, a number of successes can be achieved,” Dornfeldt said. “As a person who has considerable experience of participation in the processes of building peace, I can say with confidence that civil society can make a great contribution to the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I’m ready to share my experience in this field.”
