Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov has criticized Ukrainian deputies for voting against Azerbaijan at the Assembly.

Addressing a plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament on Friday, Seyidov stressed that such behavior by Ukrainian deputies is regrettable.

He pointed out that relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are developing rapidly following President Petro Poroshenko’s recent visit to Baku.

“Having voted against us, Ukrainian deputies voted against Ukraine itself. No deputies from Petro Poroshenko’s bloc joined the polling and the others voted against us, regrettably,” he added.

Speaker Ogtay Asadov said he shares Seyidov’s opinion about Ukraine.

“It is surprising that the MPs who were in favor of Poroshenko remained impartial and did not take part in the polling,” he said.

Rufat Guliyev, head of the interparliamentary working group with Ukraine, had a talk with Maksim Kuryachiy, the Ukrainian head of the group.

“Kuryachiy promised me that next week the working group’s members would issue a statement in this regard. We’ll see in what format they will issue the statement,” Guliyev added.
