Azerbaijan’s trade representatives abroad to be paid in amount of 90 percent of ambassador’s salary

Azerbaijan’s trade representatives abroad and their family members will be provided with housing and health insurance at the state expense. Education fees of their family members will also paid at the state expense.

This is reflected in the rules of issuing guarantees to trade representatives and employees of their offices who work in Azerbaijan’s embassies and consulates abroad. The rules were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the rules, trade representatives working in Azerbaijan’s embassies and consulates abroad will receive 90 percent of the ambassador’s salary at the designated embassy. Trade representatives working in consulates will be paid in the amount of 85 percent of the ambassador’s salary in the designated country.

The trade representative or his/her staff will receive their salaries in foreign currency from the day they cross Azerbaijan’s state border to get to the foreign on diplomatic mission. The trade representative or his/her staff will also be paid a lump sum allowance in the amount of 50 percent of the salary they will receive for their diplomatic mission. Moreover, the trade representative, his/her staff, and even their family members who live with them will be provided with medical insurance.

The education fee for the trade representative’s school-age children will be covered in the amount prescribed in the contract signed with the school, one condition that the amount is not over 700 US dollars per month.
