Abdulla, a 4-year-old Azerbaijani child, who was rescued from Islamic State terrorist organization in Iraq and was kept in an orphanage there, was brought to Azerbaijan last night, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, told APA on Friday.
“4-year-old Abdulla was brought home last night, accompanied by a representative of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Iraq,” Hajiyev said.
He added that measures are underway to identify and return home other Azerbaijani children in Iraq.
“Identification should be the first step to bring the child from the country upon the agreement of the Iraqi government,” the spokesman said.
