Azerbaijan conducts serious fight against corruption, cybercrime: Deputy Prosecutor General

Azerbaijan is conducting a serious fight against all types of crime, including money laundering, financing of terrorism, corruption and cybercrime, said Kamran Aliyev, Deputy Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan and Head of the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General.

Aliyev made the remarks at the opening ceremony of a regional conference on cybercrime which kicked off in Baku on Monday, APA reported.

The conference was organized jointly by the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General, the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) and the Council of Europe.

Aliyev said that the regional conference will last until October 11.

According to him, the topic of cybercrime is relevant in the world. “The event brought together nearly 70 people. Of them, 46 are representatives from Eastern Europe, Balkan countries, Georgia and Iran,” added the deputy prosecutor general.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Kamal Jafarov, Head of the Secretariat of the Azerbaijani Commission on Combating Corruption, Han Moraal, Secretary-General of IAP, Chairman of Global Prosecutors E-Crime Network (GPEN) and National Member for the Netherlands at Eurojust, Denis Daniilidis, Head of Political, Economics and Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Zoltan Hernyes, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Baku.
