"Relations between Italian and Azerbaijani universities are at a high level. This year more than 500 Azerbaijani students have left for Italy to pursue their study," Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Augusto Massarini said, APA reports.
The ambassador noted that from among EU countries, Italy is the country where most Azerbaijani students choose to pursue their study.
As regards complaints by Azerbaijani students about visa-free travel to Italy, the ambassador said this is due to the number of students who want to study in the country this year.
"A large number of Azerbaijani students have applied this year, so there is a problem with visa issuance,” he said.
The diplomat also said that Italy has close relations with Azerbaijan in the field of energy.
"We will try to further strengthen this cooperation. Our goal is to spread these links in other areas, attract companies and increase the number of cultural events,” said the ambassador.
