Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the state residence of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan met Putin right at the door of the car, and then the leaders headed for the main entrance along the carpet, along which an honor guard was lined up.

The presidents exchanged a handshake, and then proceeded to the inside of the residence, where negotiations began.

This is the fifth meeting of Putin and Erdogan this year. In March and May the Turkish president came to Russia, later in May the leaders held brief talks "on their feet" on the sidelines of the forum "One belt - one way" in Beijing, and in July met in the margins of the G20 summit in Hamburg.

According to Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Putin's current visit to Turkey has "absolutely pragmatic goals." The main topic of the talks will be the situation in Syria, primarily the coordination of Russia and Turkey's actions in the zones of de-escalation. The leaders will discuss the referendum on the independence of Iraqi Kurdistan and various aspects of bilateral relations, in particular the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline and the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, as well as cooperation in the military-technical field.
