Georgian Azerbaijanis held a rally Wednesday outside the Georgian parliament in Tbilisi to protest the ongoing violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, an APA correspondent reported from Tbilisi.

Residents and religious figures from Georgia’s Marneuli and Gardabani district, densely populated by Azerbaijanis, also joined the rally held under the motto “Stop Genocide against Muslims in Myanmar”.

The head of Georgia’s Supreme Muslim Religious Department, Sayed Mirtagi Mousavi, called for an urgent end to the violence in Myanmar.

The bishop of Georgia’s Evangelical Baptist Church, Malkhaz Songulashvili, also took part in the protest. He sharply condemned the events in Myanmar.

A resolution was adopted following the rally, and it will be submitted to the UN Office in Tbilisi.
