The body of famous Azerbaijani scientist Lotfi Zadeh, who died on September 6 aged 96, will be brought to Azerbaijan within 7-10 days, the deceased’s family friend, Professor of Azerbaijan Technical University Shahnaz Shahbazova told APA.

“Lotfi Zadeh’s body was placed in the morgue today at 11:00 am California time. The necessary procedure for the delivery of his body to Azerbaijan will take 7-19 days,” said Shahbazova.

According to her, Lotfi Zadeh’s body is expected to be brought to Azerbaijan on September 16-17.

“World-renowned Azerbaijani scientist, founder of fuzzy logic, professor at the California University Lotfi Zadeh passed away on September 6 at 7:30 am California time aged 96. Over the last two months, I was with him, cared for him as my own parent. He felt good until September 5, even gave me advice on our joint project. However, on September 5, he stopped talking and died painlessly. The scientist asked me to be buried in Muslim traditions, with funeral prayer,” she said.

Shahbazova added that there is Lotfi Zadeh’s bequeath to bury him in Azerbaijan and she has already contacted the Azerbaijani government is this regard.
