 Meeting held at headquarters created over weapons storage fire in Azerbaijan

Under the instructions of Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, a meeting was held at the headquarters created to determine the causes of the fire that occurred at a weapons and ammunition storage of a Defense Ministry military unit on Aug. 27, the defense ministry told APA.

Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who inspected the scene of the incident again, held a meeting with the heads of departments and service chiefs and gave appropriate instructions on the continuation of cooperation with other state bodies.

The work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the fire and clarify the issues related to the incident, according to the defense ministry.

The defense ministry stated that the weapons and ammunition collected on the territory of the military unit for the purpose of disposal poses no danger to the civilian population and personnel, and the old arms and ammunition that exploded do not affect the combat readiness of the Armed Forces in any way.
