The victory of Qarabag football club is an important event in terms of promoting Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with the squad of Garabag football club on Thursday, APA reported.
“Today Azerbaijan’s Qarabag football club is competing and will continue to compete with world-famous sports teams. Almost all foreign media outlets are covering this victory,” said the president.
He stressed that the whole world once again became convinced that Karabakh is Azerbaijani land.
“Although Aghdam is under occupation, its representatives continue to conquer Europe. This once again shows that the Azerbaijani people will never reconcile themselves with this occupation. We live in our own land and we all desire the liberation of our occupied territories. Each our victory and success in any field brings this day even closer,” President Aliyev said.
“Last year’s April fights showed that Azerbaijan can restore its territorial integrity at any moment. Today our military potential allows us to control the situation on the battlefield and dictate our will. There is such situation in sports as well. Our sportsmen give us the joy of victory. This is a historic victory. I’m sure that you will successfully represent us at the UEFA Champions League group stage as well,” he added.
