 Azerbaijan wraps up search and rescue operation for missing oilmen

The search and rescue operation for the oil workers, who went missing in the accident that took place in December last year at an oil-gathering station of the Oil and Gas Production Department named after N. Narimanov of Azneft Production Union, has been completed, the headquarters, created in connection with the accident, told APA.

The accident took place at about 05:00 (UTC/GMT+4), on December 15, due to strong wind, which blew away a part of a flyover of a 150-meter long oil-gathering station. A board attached to the flyover and a booth on it were also blown away. As a result of the accident, one person died, nine others went missing.

The headquarters, consisting of experts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Defense Ministry, the State Border Service, the State Maritime Administration of Azerbaijan Republic, SOCAR and Caspian Shipping Company, said that the body of an unknown man was found on the island of Dash Zira on August 18 at about 18:10 (UTC/GMT+4). Later it was revealed that the body belongs to oilman Samir Asadov who went missing in the accident. Asadov was the last of the missing oilmen.

The bodies of all the missing oilmen were found as a result of the search and rescue operation conducted by the headquarters.
