“Most of today’s negotiations were about transport issues. New sea ports are being held in both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan and will be launched soon. This will lead to increase of freightage. At the same time, one of the issues discussed today is construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. This railway will increase transit opportunities of both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan”, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his statement for press after signing of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan documents.
According to him, there are good opportunities for energy cooperation: “The memorandum we signed today creates a basis for our future cooperation. We are successfully cooperating in all fields. The people also see that we don’t need an interpreter. During the conversation with the president, we said that if our people often visit one-another for a month, there will be no unknown word for them. That’s this similarity is our wealth. We have same history, culture and ethnicity and we establish our activity on the basis of these roots. Turkmenistan is a fraternal and close country for us. We highly appreciate this. I’d like to express my assurance that your visit will have good results. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will be closer”.
