Nail Allahverdiyev, grandson of Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov, has been put in pretrial detention.

A ‘Mercedes-Gelandewagen’ caused a nasty traffic accident on August 3 around 21:00 in the territory of Narimanov district, which resulted in the death of two people. Two more people received bodily injuries, according to a joint statement the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office made to APA.

Necessary investigative measures were taken in accordance with Article 263.3 (Infringement of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, committed on imprudence entailed death of two or more persons) and Article 264 (Fleeing the site of the traffic accident), the statement said.

"Video records from surveillance cameras at the site of accident prove that the driver of “Mercedes-Gelandewagen” was Baku resident Nail Elman oglu Allahverdiyev (1994). The court has sentenced the driver to 4 months’ pretrial detention. Besides, it became clear that the driver of “Mazda”, which grossly violated the public order by driving at a high speed, was Baku resident Mirmahammad Alovsat oglu Ismailov (1995). The court has issued a verdict of one-month administrative arrest against him. In this regard, we state that government officials and members of their families still continue their arbitrariness and even crime activity despite numerous warnings from the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Therefore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office once again remind that the most drastic measures will be taken against any official and their family members who ignore the warnings of the head of state and show disrespect for society, and go against traffic regulations and laws,” the statement said.
