The names of journalists who will be given apartments will be announced on July 21, said Vugar Safarli, executive director of the Fund of State Support for Development of Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan, chairman of the commission newly-created for determining rules and terms for new apartments meant for journalists in Azerbaijan, APA reported.
He said that the Fund of State Support for Development of Mass Media and the Presidential Administration received a total of more than 2,000 appeals.
“About 1,000 of them were submitted repeatedly. Those also include the appeals from individuals who have nothing with media. Of the remaining 1,000 appeals, 255 were selected,” said Safarli.
The building newly-constructed for journalists will be inaugurated on July 21, Safarli said, adding that the names of journalists who will be given apartments in that building will be announced on the same day.
“The list is comprehensive, it covers e-media, televisions, radios, newspapers, portals, and websites. Unlike last time, the names of veteran journalists are listed as well”, said the commission chairman.
“Besides, the journalists who lost parents have also appealed. Their appeals were also considered. A fair and transparent selection was made”, he said. “The number of apartments is 255 and the appeals exceed 2,000. Therefore, while selecting, the merits and experience of the journalists and all conditions were taken into account.”
