The death of civilians is always dramatic, but it becomes horrifying when children are the direct victims, Senator Christophe-André Frassa, Member of France–Caucasus Friendship Group in the French Senate, told French office of The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) while commenting on the recent tragic events in Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district.

“A diplomatic solution is more than ever the key to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and all efforts must be supported to guarantee a return to peace and to ensure security for the populations in the Caucasus region,” the senator said.

On July 4 at about 20:40 (GMT+4 hours), the Armenian armed forces, using 82-mm and 120-mm mortars and grenade launchers, shelled the Alkhanli village of Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district. As a result of this provocation, the residents of the village Sahiba Allahverdiyeva, 50, and Zahra Guliyeva, 2, were killed. Salminaz Guliyeva, 52, was injured.
