The chairman of the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with Religious Organizations, Mubariz Gurbanli, has commented on the Georgian side’s disapproval of ARB TV channel filming the St. George’s Church in the Ingiloy village of Azerbaijan’s Gakh district, APA reported.

Gurbanli noted that the State Committee has also been appealed to by the Georgian side.

He noted, however, that a solution has been found to the problem in a recent meeting with Georgia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan.

“After all, we sent a letter to the National Television and Radio Council, as well as the Press Council, to remind them that the press has to be sensitive about filming any place of worship in the country so as not to provoke displeasure. The press must be careful when it comes to relations between countries and religions,” he said.

As regards the filming in Gakh, Gurbanli noted that it was illegal.

“Although the filming posed no moral harms, but it did bring about disapproval. Our experts have already reached a decision on the matter; the story was completely removed from the channel. The same offence had been done by perfect relations with Georgia despite some third parties feeling jealous about it. Therefore, we need to be careful,” he added.
