From 2017 on, the problems related to military service of male students with 1 or 2 unpaid academic debts at universities will be solved, Yagub Piriyev, department head at Azerbaijan’s Education Ministry, told APA.
Piriyev said that in previous year, male students who failed their academic debts during the academic years had to pay them after serving in the army.
According to him, from this year on, the male students will pay their academic debts in 1 or 2 subjects after the exam terms, and then join the army. “The terms at universities will last until June 5. However, it only concerns those who have only one or two academic debts. The students will be allowed to pass the state examination, defend their graduation work, pay their academic debts and then join the army”, he added.
The ministry official noted that a meeting with vice-rectors will be held in the ministry and they will be given proper instructions.
