Powerful mud after strong rains fell on the Gobustan district caused a closure of the main road, APA's local bureau reports.
The mudflows that descended from the mountains tonight flooded the carriageway on the 76th kilometer of the Baku-Shamakhi highway, near the place called "Jeyrankeachmaz". The mud completely blocked traffic on the specified section of the route.
The bridges on this section of the road damaged. As a result, more than 500 cars remained on the road. Stuck in the mud and water cars were recovered by rescuers. Heavy equipment was brought to the site of the incident, the riverbed of the Jeyrankecmaz river was cleared of silt, a mud flow in the other direction was provided.
