The Russian State Social University has appealed to the country’s Justice Ministry over the liquidation of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress (VAK), the State Committee of Azerbaijan on Work with Diaspora told APA.

The appeal letter states that the Russian State Social University has been cooperating with VAK for more than a decade now and that a lot has been achieved with this organization in developing close friendly and working relations and in establishing cultural, scientific, and moral ties.

The letter further mentions that the VAK establishment is related connected with the name of Azerbaijan’s national letter Heydar Aliyev, and Russian and Azerbaijani presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev attended the organization’s 2nd congress in 2004.

“We express our concern over the VAK liquidation. The activities of such organizations are important in terms of strengthening friendly relations between the people of Russia and Azerbaijan, as well as the involvement of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia’s public life,” the Russian State Social University noted.
