Azerbaijan's Taekwondo team completed the competition with 9 medals, APA reports quoting Apasport.

Today, Taekwondo competitions ended at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games. On the last day the winners were determined in 5 weight categories.

Four sportsmen of the Azerbaijani team fought for medals. Distinguished two - Ramin Azizov won gold, and Muhammad Mammadov bronze medals.

Men

63 kg

Mahammed Mammadov joined the fight with the 1/8 finals. The winner of the World Cup did not experience serious difficulties in a duel with Indonesian Ibrahim Zarman (9: 2) and reached the quarter finals. At this stage, our athlete met with Omer Khayyami (Morocco). Mammadov made him regret about leaving the tatami - 26:10. In the semi-final our sportsman lost to Alimjan Serikbaev (Kazakhstan) with a score of 7: 8 and was content with a bronze medal.

74 kg

Said Guliyev will start playing in the tournament with 1/4 finals. The winner of the Youth Olympiad met with Tosh Van Duyk. Our athlete actively started the meeting and took the lead, but, despite this, towards the end of the fight, he lost the advantage. As a result, Guliyev lost with a score of 17:19 and dropped out of the fight at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games

87 kg

The representative of our country in this weight category Ramin Azizov on the road to the semi-final suspended from the struggle of the Jordanian Anas Sadeq. Our Taekwondo player defeated the opponent with a score of 27: 8. In his second fight, Azizov defeated Serdar Yüksel's Turk and reached the final. In the final fight Azizov won and became the champion, being stronger than Iranian Ahmed Muhammadi (16:13)

Women

62 kg

Daria Shkurko was our only athlete, who appeared on the tatami on the last day. In the quarter finals she met with Sukayna El-Auni (Morocco). In a tense battle, the Moroccan turned out to be stronger. Shkurko lost with a score of 8:10 and dropped out of the fight.

Note that in the first two days of the Taekwondo competitions our team won 5 gold and 2 silver medals.

The team finished the competition with 9 awards - 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal.
