President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has awarded the winners of the judo competitions held as part of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.
Azerbaijani national team, consisting of Mammadali Mehdiyev, Ushangi Kokauri, Nijat Shikhalizade, Rustam Orujov and Rufat Ismayilov, won gold in men’s team competitions, claiming a decisive 3:2 victory over the Algerians.
The bronze medal was won by the Turkish and Uzbek national teams.
The judo competitions were also watched by President Ilham Aliyev, who is also the President of the National Olympic Committee, as well as First Lady, Chairperson of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani women’s team won the silver medal of the competition.
The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital.
