The Russian community of Azerbaijan, which unites more than 120,000 Azerbaijani citizens of Russian origin, is concerned over the long-standing situation surrounding All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress (AAC), a Russian public association, said a statement made by the Russian community’s Republican Council, APA reported.
The Russian community of Azerbaijan has already demonstrated its principled position on the issue of the AAC liquidation in the statement of April 4, 2017, said the statement.
“Unfortunately, certain forces in Russia are trying to create conditions for the liquidation of AAC by seeking insignificant shortcomings in the organizational activities of Russia’s large public association,” the Russian community noted in the statement. “There is no doubt that such an unfriendly and disrespectful attitude towards our compatriots – Azerbaijani Diaspora in Russia – does not contribute to the development and enhancement of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as between the two countries’ peoples. Russians living in Azerbaijan highly appreciate the careful attitude of the Azerbaijani people towards the preservation of the Russian language, culture and the traditions of the Russian people in Azerbaijan.”
“We believe that in Russia there should be the same attitude with regard to the issue causing the concern of Azerbaijanis, who are full fledged citizens of Russia,” said the Russian community.
The Russian community of Azerbaijan expressed satisfaction with the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.
“These relations are based on the centuries-old traditions of friendship and good-neighborliness, respect for each other’s interests, the intertwined fates of millions of Azerbaijanis and Russians. We must not allow the actions of unfriendly forces to undermine strong and sincere ties between our peoples. We praise the relations between our countries and peoples,” said the Russian community, urging sound forces in Russia not to allow the AAC liquidation.
