Strong earthquake hits Azerbaijan’s Saatli - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

An earthquake measuring magnitude 5.3 struck Azerbaijan’s Saatli district on Thursday morning, the Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences told APA.

The quake occurred at a depth of 39 kilometers. Underground tremors in the epicenter were felt up to magnitude 5, in nearby settlements magnitude 3-4.

The tremors were also felt in the districts of Kurdamir, Shamakhi, Agshu, Hajigabul, Sabirabad and Fuzuli.

An earthquake occurred on Thursday morning in Azerbaijan.

According to APA’s local bureaus, the earthquake occurred around 07:00 a.m. local time and was felt in Shirvan, Salyan and Lankaran regions.

Quakes caused panic among the residents. No information was received about the casualty and destruction.
