The World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue is of great importance, said Novruz Mammadov, deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, head of the Administration’s foreign relations department.

He made the remarks at a panel session titled “Cultivating peaceful relations through Intercultural Dialogue”, which was held as part of the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku May 6, APA reported.

“The activities carried out by Azerbaijan in recent years have not been carried by any state. This applies to the field of sports and the sphere of culture. Such meetings are of great importance, but for their conduct there must be conditions. If we do not work closely with large states, the results will be like now,” said Mammadov.

He pointed out that Azerbaijan has managed to build an independent state despite of the existence of the problem of one million refugees and IDPs.

“No one cares how the problem arose. The Azerbaijani territories are under occupation for more than 25 years. However, no country expresses its concrete position on this matter,” said Mammadov, adding. “Large states are negotiating among themselves to resolve problems and small states are waiting for results. If such an approach does not change, then it will be impossible secure international law and eliminate the ongoing tensions.”
