Extremists continue inflicting damage on society through various means, said Maher Nasser, Acting Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, United Nations.

He made the remarks at a panel session titled “Promoting Dialogue and Building Bridges as a Tool to Preventing Violent Extremism”, which was held as part of the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku May 5, APA reported.

He said today the whole world receives and transmits information via the Internet.

“Terrorist organizations also use software to spread their dirty deeds. The Internet is a tool for them. They attract low-income people through different messages. It is very important to build bridges between education, dialogue and communities. There are about 1 billion 800 million young people around the world. We should be closer to them. The key to the future is in their hands. We have to work for their well-being,” added the UN official.
