“Now, we can surely say that Azerbaijan could diversify its economic potential. The non-oil sector currently makes up 65% of the economy”, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the republican conference of non-oil exporters in Yevlakh.

“But we cannot say same thing about export yet. Major part of export is still related with oil and gas. This is, may be, normal for the current period because we increase our oil and gas potential. However, one of the objectives lying ahead is to achieve diversification in export too as in GDP”, he said.

President Aliyev noted that execution of regional development programs yielded result, thousands of new enterprises were created. The head of state stressed that 1,700,000 jobs have been launched, of which 1,300,000 are permanent jobs.

According to him, 150,000 hectares of new irrigable lands will be allocated to farmers this year: “This is a historical achievement that we get lands irrigable to such an extent”.
