Azerbaijan has detained three people for attempting to smuggle large quantities of dollars and gold bullions to Turkey.
The State Customs Committee and the State Security Service said in a joint statement that they detained three persons in a joint operation on 8 March, APA reported.
The detainees—Azerbaijani citizens Elvin Yusubov, Rashad Nasibov, and Kamran Ahmadov, a customs official who had made preliminary arrangement with them—have been brought criminal charges against for attempting to smuggle $190,000 cash and five bold bullions worth AZN 132,207 (weight: 2kg 279g) to Turkey by plane from the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
