US ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta is on a visit to Azerbaijan’s southern district of Masalli.
The ambassador and his spouse met there with the head of the Masalli district executive authority, Rafil Huseynov, APA’s local bureau reported
The diplomat met female entrepreneurs in Masalli, noting that the US government offers support for the bettering of women’s rights and the economic diversification in Azerbaijan’s south.
They then visited the Women Resources Center, which aims to promote entrepreneurship among women, and SYSLAB Training Center, which is intended to create a network in the area of training and employment on youth’s skills. These centers are financed by USAID and managed by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Azerbaijani government.
The ambassador’s spouse held a round table to discuss women’s problems.
The two also visited a weaving workshop and a bakery owned by female entrepreneurs, and then made their way to ASAN Life Center, which employs graduates from SYSLAB Center.
The ambassador is expected to go to Lankaran later in the day.
