Publishing houses in Azerbaijan will be fined for a failure to submit required copies to libraries, and if such a case is repeated twice of three times they may be shut down, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism told reporters on Tuesday.

“If we want to preserve our history, required copies should be submitted to libraries. This is the duty of the society that respects its history,” he said.

The minister recalled that certain amendments have been made to Azerbaijan’s legislation.

He stressed the need to form national archives. “All publications must be presented free of charge to libraries. The main goal is to reflect the history of all publications in the National Library,” Garayev said.

The minister noted that national archives are of great importance for future generations in terms of conducting historical researches.
