“Without doubt, everyone had been expecting Mehriban Aliyeva in particular to be appointed to the position of First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, which had been constituted according to the results of last year’s referendum,” Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and chief of the administration's foreign relations department, wrote on Facebook.
“I’m confident that Mrs Mehriban will attain new series of achievements in this honored and responsible position,” he wrote.
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on Feb. 21 to appoint Mehriban Aliyeva the country’s first vice-president.
