A number of political parties in Azerbaijan still fail to submit their financial statements, Siyavush Novruzov, MP, chairman of the parliamentary Committee on public unions and religious organizations, told APA on Wednesday.

The MP stressed the need to make certain amendments to the legislation in this regard.

Novruzov said some Azerbaijani MPs receive anonymous calls from abroad in the evenings, noting that this issue should be investigated in terms of information security.

The MP also commented on views on inefficiency of the parliament’s work.

“These views are false. We adopt important laws. Or, some people say that the president’s team should be changed. Azerbaijan has highly developed thanks to the work of this team,” he said, adding. “On the other hand, the team members are appointed by the president himself. Some forgets that Azerbaijan is not a parliamentary, but a presidential republic. In Azerbaijan, even some high-ranking officials are arrested on corruption charges.”
