The United Nations and the Azerbaijani government have launched a joint campaign on education and science, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Ghulam Isaczai said on Monday.
He noted that the Azerbaijani government provides high-level support to local educational institutions.
“UNDP cooperates with a number of high educational institutions of Azerbaijan in order to achieve quality education,” Isaczai said. “With regard to the elimination of contradictions in education, we believe that no one should be deprived of education.”
Azerbaijan has achieved great success in this field, the UN resident coordinator said, stressing that nearly 95 percent of children in the country are educated.
Isaczai added that the UN supports pre-school readiness programs being carried out in Azerbaijan.
