A meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Austrian Foreign Minister, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Sebastian Kurz kicked off in Moscow on Wednesday.

"Today we want to listen to the Austrian colleagues who chair the OSCE this year," Lavrov said opening talks with Sebastian Kurz, APA’s Moscow correspondent reported.

"We studied the program of the chairmanship and we consider it to be pragmatic, we are ready to assist its successful implementation," Lavrov said.

Kurz said that Austria has set three main goals during its OSCE Chairmanship.

“Our main goal is to assist in the resolution of conflicts. Above all, we aim to help resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine,” the chairperson said. “Secondly, we intend to play the role of a bridge between the West and the East, and leave behind the idea of bloc which re-emerged in Europe. We need to trust each other and meet more to tackle these tasks.”

“Our third goal is to fight against radicalization, violent extremism and terrorism”, Kurz added.

The conflicts in the OSCE area, as well as the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the Ukrainian crisis will be discussed during the meeting.
