Baku – APA. Central banks of Turkey and Russia have begun work on technical aspects of using national currencies in bilateral trade, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told Sputnik.

Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara had proposed to Moscow to conduct trade in national currencies. Yildirim, who visited Moscow on December 5-6, said he had discussed the issue with Russian officials.

"The Russian side is also interested in this. The central banks have already begun to work on the issue of how this can be implemented, and some technical issues need to be work out to make it happen. Everyone, both Turkey and Russia, is positive about this prospect," Yildirim said.
