Baku-APA. Azerbaijani taekwondo fighter Radik Isaev prevented Niger claiming their first ever Olympic title when defeating Abdoulrazak Issoufou Alfaga 6-2, won men's +80kg taekwondo gold medal, APA reports.


Radik Isaev also has punched his way into the history books as he became the first Azerbaijani who win an Olympic taekwondo gold.

It's in general 15th medal and the 1st gold medal of Azerbaijan in Rio 2016.

The bronze medals went to South Korea's Cho Dong-Min and Mahama Cho of Britain.

Baku-APA. Azerbaijan’s Radik Isaev has qualified for the final of the Rio Olympics to compete for the country’s first ever taekwondo gold, APA reports.

Isaev beat British Mahama Cho 4-1 in the semifinal of the +80kg weight class.

He will face Nigerien Abdoulrazak Issoufou Alfaga in the final.
