Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. The Supreme Court has considered the cassation appeal of former Minister of Health Ali Insanov, who is in prison.

The court denied the appeal, APA reported.

Ali Insanov said he would appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

Note that Ali Insanov was arrested in October 2005 and sentenced to 11 years in prison. The European Court considered his appeal in 2013. On March 14, 2013, the European Court of Human Rights announced its judgment on the appeal of Ali Insanov. Under the verdict, Ali Insanov’s appeals on Article 3 (prohibition of torture and of inhuman or degrading treatment) and Article 6 (right to a fair trial) of the European Convention on Human Rights were ensured. In 2013, the Supreme Court reconsidered his case. The previous verdict was cancelled and the case was handed over to the Baku Court of Appeal for reconsideration. However, the court upheld the verdict. Then, in May 2015, Insanov’s attorneys filed a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court against that verdict.
