Cairo. Turbat Baghirova – APA. An Egyptian delegation will pay a visit to Azerbaijan in April to discuss bilateral ties in the tourism sphere, said Khaled Fuda, Governor of Egypt's South Sinai region.

He made the remarks at a meeting with a group of Azerbaijani journalists in Cairo March 31.

“The Egyptian and Azerbaijani peoples are close to each other. I became certain of it during my meetings with Azerbaijan’s authorities,” said the governor.

Khaled Fua expressed his hope for the procedure of opening a direct flight route from Azerbaijan to Sharm el-Sheikh to accelerate, saying that security is highly ensured in the region he governs.

“There is no security concern in the city itself. Security proposals from Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom were taken into consideration at the airport. At our airport, there has not been any problem associated with security for 35 years. However, some countries asked for tightened security measures here, which we did,” he added.

The governor stressed the fact that Sharm el-Sheikh hosts a variety of conferences, noting that in May it will host an event that will be attended by up to 200 communication companies. “These all are a message to the world. We provide a high level of security. Now it’s the turn of the countries which do not allow their citizens to come here,” he said.
