Azerbaijani jailed for life over fatal shooting of Russian police officer

Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. An Azerbaijani man has been sentenced to life imprisonment over a fatal shooting of a Russian police officer in Moscow.

On the night of 6 April 2015, a shootout occurred during the operation carried out by the police in the Krasnogorsk district of Moscow as the criminals began to open fire at them. Police captain Sergei Zhadobkin, 33, died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

However, members of the gang were arrested. Sariyev, who murdered Zhadobkin, shot himself in the foot. “Saiga” rifle was seized from him. The gang was revealed to have committed numerous crimes in Moscow.

Sariyev was born in Azerbaijan, but was a Russian citizen. He was found him guilty under article # 317 (assault on the life of law enforcement officers) of the Russian Criminal Code.
