Interior Ministry releases official statement on incidents in Mingechevir

Baku – APA. Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan has released official statement on incidents in Mingechevir, APA reports quoting Ministry’s press service.

The statement says: “As we reported that on august 20 Mingechevir resident Bahruz Hajiyev, suspected of usage and sale of drug, was brought to Mingechevir Police Department and suddenly threw himself from the window while was being investigated by an officer.

With the participation of his relatives, the no signs of violence were revealed on the body.

A criminal case on eth fact was launched by the Prosecutor’s Office and the issue will be legally assessed depending on result of the investigation.

However, on August 22, a group of residents did not obey legal requirements of police by violating public safety and attempted to hold rally in the streets of the city.

While preventing illegal acts, 4 officers received injuries, a car of City Police Department was damaged.

21 persons violating public safety were detained and sent to court together with the materials collected for taking legal measures.

We regret the happened event and condole with Bahruz Hajiyev’s family. At the same time, we notice that attempts to violate public safety in the city will be prevented, legal measures will be taken against guilt persons”.
