Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. The U.S. State Department has commented on the investigative article titled ‘Anti-Azerbaijani campaign led by John Kerry's office in Congress’ published by APA information Agency.
The journalist asked Spokesperson for the United States Department of State Marie Harf to comment on a long investigative article that supposedly uncovers a U.S. plot to tarnish the country’s image ahead of the European Olympic Games which take place there in June. “The article portrays Secretary Kerry as pro-Armenian. Wanted to find out, first of all, what is State’s reaction. Secondly, if there are plans to lodge a formal protest to the government?” asked the journalist.
Ms Harf responded that the U.S.’s longstanding support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and independence is backed by much more than words, certainly, and the claims in this article are completely baseless and without merit.
