The deceased poet will be buried in 1st Alley of Honor.

Azerbaijani people’s poet, public figure Vagif Samadoglu died Wednesday morning.

V. Samadoglu suffered from cancer for a long time.

Vagif Samadoglu Vekilov was born on June 5, 1939 in Baku to the famous Azerbaijani poet Samad Vurgun’s family. He graduated from Bulbul School of Music and the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov. He attended the course in Moscow State Conservatory named for P. I. Tchaikovsky (1962-1963). Later, Samadoglu worked as a piano teacher in the Azerbaijan State Conservatory in 1963-1971s. He worked as a director of literary department in "Azerbaijanfilm" cinema studio (1982-1985). V. Samadoglu also worked in the fields of poetry, theater and drama. His first creative work “Seven poems” was published in Azerbaijan journal, 1963. V. Samadoglu’s works have been published in the periodical press from time to time. Thereafter he was editor-in-chief in “Oguz eli” newspaper (1992-1994) and also MP of Azerbaijani Parliament in 2000-2005.
