Azerbaijan to host Days of Egyptian Culture on June 1-6

Baku – APA. Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Egypt Shahin Abdullayev was interview by “Neil Al-Akhbar” TV channel.

The ambassador talked about the history of our country and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told APA.

Noting the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands by Armenian armed forces and the expulsion of more than one million Azerbaijanis from their native lands, the diplomat stressed that Armenia has not yet fulfilled four resolutions of the UN Security Council adopted in 1993 and has not undergone any sanctions by international organizations.

The ambassador said that over the past eight years, the poverty level in Azerbaijan reduced to 5 percent from 49 percent, foreign exchange reserves surpassed $53 billion. Abdullayev also stated that Azerbaijan is an exporter of oil and gas to world market, the country has made achievements in non-oil sector - tourism, communications and information technology, industry and agriculture.

Touching upon the tourism potential of Azerbaijan, the ambassador said more than 2 million tourists traveled to Azerbaijan in 2013.

As for Azerbaijan-Egypt relations, the ambassador said the Days of Egyptian Culture will be held in Baku on June 1-6 that will further develop relations between the two countries in the fields of culture and tourism.
