Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has examined the reports that athletes of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic participated in wrestling tournament in Batumi, Georgia.
The examination revealed that this fact is false, the ministry’s press service told APA.
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports kept in touch with the Georgian side and organizers of the tournament. It was revealed that though “NKR” team applied to participate in the tournament, it was not registered. Armenians have once again disseminated misinformation.
The ministry also said that in general, Azerbaijani wrestlers didn’t take part in this tournament.
Armenian media outlets reported yesterday that along with Kazakh, Georgian, Azerbaijani, Turkish and Armenian athletes, “NKR” representatives also participated in the wrestling tournament in Batumi.
Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation told APA that this tournament was not registered by the International Wrestling Federation and no Azerbaijani wrestlers participated in this tournament.
