Baku-APA. A 49-year-old car salesman under house arrest for alleged fraud was killed in a car-bomb blast in Italy's island of Sardinia on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The explosion occurred in the province of Ogliastra in eastern Sardinia, when the man, Roberto Aresu, started up his economy car and a bomb made the vehicle blow up.

The man, who was heading off to work amid house arrest for an alleged fraud linked to used-car sales, died shortly after the blast, police said. The roar sparked panic among the residents of the neighborhood.

According to La Stampa newspaper, the attack was carried out with a "typical mafia style" in an area which was suspected of frequent criminal infiltrations.

A similar explosion had happened in the same province last year, when a 47-year-old worker was injured in his car's explosion but managed to survive.
