Azerbaijan to ban import of automobiles failing to meet Euro 4 standard from April 1

He said the application of the new standard is being realized in accordance with the instructions given by the Head of State at the recent meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the protection environment, citizens’ health and environmental security.

“In accordance with the ongoing development standards in Azerbaijan, our country has switched to Euro 4 skipping Euro 3,” Abdullayev said.

Euro 4 standard has been applied in the European Union countries since 2005.

The Cabinet of Ministers has passed a decision to bring to conformity the requirements on emission of harmful agents from vehicles (imported and produced in Azerbaijan) with Euro 4 norms.

According to the decision, with the view of reducing the volume of automobile emissions and improving the environmental situation, Euro 4 will be applied from April 1 on emission of harmful agents from vehicles (imported and produced in Azerbaijan).
