Baku - APA. Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the participants of the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, APA reports.
The letter says that UNESCO is one of the first international organizations, which Azerbaijan joined after regaining its independence.
“The Azerbaijani state has always focused attention on the cooperation in all the spheres covered by this organization’s activity. Developing and strengthening UNESCO-Azerbaijan relations have offered broad opportunities to promote ancient, rich culture of our people in the world and demonstrate their achievements.”
President said the fact that UNESCO keeps in the focus of attention the promotion of Azerbaijani mugham, ashug art, carpet-weaving, tar performing art and Novruz holiday, valuable examples of the tangible and intangible heritage of our people, outstanding representatives of our national culture and science shows the high-level relations between our country and this influential international organization.
“I am sure that your session with its decisions will contribute to preserving cultural heritage, deepening dialogue and understanding among cultures,” the letter says.
