Azerbaijan's President: â€˜In todayâ€™s parade, Azerbaijan will demonstrate its military powerâ€™ - UPDATED

Hafiz Heydarov - APA. ‘In today’s parade, Azerbaijan will demonstrate its military power’, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said addressing the parade dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The President noted that military buildup is the top priority for a state: ‘This must be so for every country. Each country must defend itself. In particular, it is more important for the countries at war. Azerbaijan is in a state of war, the war is not over yet, the first phase of the war had completed and our army should be ready at any moment to restore its territorial integrity by all means. For many years, the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unsettled. For many years, the injustice continues. Our territories recognized by the international community are under occupation. Khojaly genocide was committed against our nation. All the international organizations support Azerbaijan's position and these organizations have their own decisions in this regard. However, Armenia is ignoring the international law and continues the occupation. Unfortunately, the negotiations do not give results, as well. In this case, there is a great need for the military buildup.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a historical and ancestral territory of Azerbaijan. For centuries, our people have lived on this land. And today, Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan and the entire world community recognizes and supports the territorial integrity of our country.

Not only Nagorno-Karabakh, but also present-day Armenia was established in the Azerbaijani lands. Khanate of Yerevan, Goycha, Zangazur regions are our historical lands. The Azerbaijani state and people will never allow the creation of a second Armenian state in the territory of Azerbaijan. We will try to solve the issue as soon as possible. Solution to the problem, of course, goes through the political means and the negotiation process is still going on. However, the strong army, strong potential strengthen our position. Our position is based on the historical justice. I reiterate that Nagorno-Karabakh is Azerbaijani land and will always remain Azerbaijani land’.
