Institute of Manuscripts obtains copy of divan written by Safavid-era Azerbaijani poet kept in Cambridge University

Baku. Konul Kamligizi – APA. The Institute of Manuscripts of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has obtained the copy of the divan written by Safavid-era Azerbaijani poet Murtuza Gulu Khan Shamlu kept in Cambridge University Library. He held high state positions during the reign of Shah Safi (1629-1642) and Shah Abbas II.

The Institute of Manuscripts told APA that the note on the divan reveals that it was completed in 1669.

839-verse Azerbaijani divan by Murtuza Gulu Khan who worked as a eshikaghasibashi, divanbeyi, gorchubashi, the governor of Kerman province, the governor of the sepulcher of Sheikh Safi-ad-din and Ardabil vizier at the Safavid Palace consists of 114 ghazals, 3 small distiches, 3 terkibbend, 2 tercibend, 1 mukhammas, 1 mustezad, 5 gite, 1 quatrain.
