Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh's works published in Hungarian for the first time

Baku – APA. On the occasion of Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh's 200th anniversary his works for the first time were published in the Hungarian language on the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Hungary. The Embassy told APA that the book “Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh. Comedies and prose” includes the great writer's six comedies and satirical novella “The deceived Stars”. The works were translated by Maria Keneshi, scientist on Azerbaijani studies, graduate of Baku State University. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Hungary Vilayat Guliyev wrote a wide foreword to this book titled “The founder of new Azerbaijani literature”. It is about Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh's great role in literary-cultural and socio-political life of XIX century Azerbaijan and entire Turkish-Islamic world, his role as a founder of the new literature and national revival.


At present the Embassy negotiates with Hungarian theatres to stage one of the great writer's plays on Hungarian stage.
